Hassania School of Public Works of Casablanca, organization of a day on gastronomy and international cuisine “EHTP Tastes

As part of the personal initiative project, a group of engineering students from the Hassania public works school in Casablanca organized a day on gastronomy and international cuisine “EHTP Tastes Good”, under the theme “discovering the flavors and delights of the world”.  This event took place on March 30, 2013, at the Hassania School of Public Works, with the presence of a large number of personalities from the culinary field including the great chefs Mr. Mohammed FEDAL, better known as « Chef Moha », Mr. Abdellah ACHIAI, big winner of the World Cup of Collective Catering Chefs under direct management, Mr. Mohamed TADARTI, chef of the restaurant Le boudoir and Mr. Lahsen IDOUAKRIM, professor at “George Washington Academy”. The participation of the famous dietitian-nutritionist Asmaa ZRIOUEL gave even more taste and success to this first edition of “EHTP Tastes Good” so awaited by cooking enthusiasts.

On the program for “EHTP Tastes Good”, an international cuisine show paying tribute, for this first edition, to eight cuisines from around the world: Japanese, Mexican, Senegalese, Thai, Spanish, Lebanese, Italian and Moroccan cuisines. The show included exhibitions of different dishes representing these cuisines and their particularities. Visitors also tasted these dishes in order to combine taste with knowledge, and discovered some aspects of the culture of the countries represented. The show also featured creative exhibitions of the art of cutting. The day continued with a round table on the theme “international cuisine and dietetics”.

The event closed with the “Engineer Master chef” cooking competition between engineering students from the major engineering schools in Morocco: IAV, ENIM, ENSEM, INPT, EHTP, AIAC, INSEA, ENSIAS and ESITH. Participants were asked to concoct the best starters, main courses and desserts, while drawing inspiration from world cuisines. The criteria of taste, cleanliness and presentation were decisive. The jury named the team representing EHTP the winner of this first edition of the “Engineer Master chef” cooking contest. This competition is a national recognition of the talents and creativity specific to Moroccan engineers which manifest themselves even outside the technical and scientific fields, in particular the culinary field.
