The mother of all lies” is a hit. Signed Asmae El Mudir, this innovative documentary has just been selected for the Sundance Film Festival scheduled for January 18 to 28, 2024.
smae El Mudir has a string of festivals and awards (18 in total). “Kadib Abyad” (The mother of all lies) fascinates. His latest award (and not the least), the Golden Star from the Marrakech International Film Festival (FIFM). This is the first time in the history of the Festival that this prize goes to a Moroccan film. In this documentary, the director, screenwriter and producer talks, based on her family history, about the little lies told since her childhood. “My personal story collides and has repercussions on society. It’s a bit like the butterfly effect,” she explained to Femmes du Maroc during a portrait published in our columns. It took Asmae El Mudir 10 years to put together her documentary. Due to lack of financial means, she had to build the sets herself, be patient and launch into production. A long, sometimes perilous road, but one that has paid off for a year now. Through this film, Asmae El Moudir demonstrates her strength, enough to inspire many women!
