
Moroccan women celebrated in Cognac
The Consulate General of the Kingdom of Morocco in Bordeaux organized, in collaboration with the Franco-Moroccan association Salam, on March 9, 2024, a cultural event intended to pay tribute to Moroccan migrant women, on the occasion of World Day for the Promotion of Women’s Rights. + A – A This event was marked by the presentation of prizes and distinctions by the Consul General of the Kingdom of Morocco in Bordeaux, Ahmed Nouri Salimi, and by the Mayor of the city of Cognac, Morgan Berger, to deserving Moroccan women due to their professional careers and their significant contributions in the enrichment of associative and cultural life within the Moroccan community established in Charente. Speaking on this occasion, the Consul General of the Kingdom of Morocco in Bordeaux recalled the pioneering reforms adopted by Morocco, under the enlightened aegis of King Mohammed VI, to grant women the important place they deserve in Moroccan society through the process of overhauling the Moroccan moudawana. A normative framework providing for the protection, respect and promotion of the rights of Moroccan women and which is always subject to significant development. He praised the virtues of resilience, dynamism and generosity of Moroccan migrant women who have enabled generations of Moroccans to integrate harmoniously into their host countries without departing from their physical ties with their country of origin. For his part, the Mayor of Cognac expressed his admiration for the attachment of Moroccan migrant women to the cultural and societal values of their country of origin, while demanding greater empowerment and emancipation. For her part, Nadia Fteita Sardaoui, president of the Salam association, expressed, on behalf of the Moroccan women of Charente, her pride in belonging to a country which has nothing to envy of other advanced states in the promotion of women’s rights and equality between men and women, thanks to the far-sighted and courageous vision of the King. She then proceeded to read a message of loyalty and fidelity addressed to the high attention of the King, guarantor of the stability and prosperity of Morocco and the protection of the rights of Moroccan citizens.
