A total of 117,006 tourists visited Ouarzazate during the first four months of 2014, compared to 98,172 during the same period of the previous year, an increase of 19%, according to statistics from the provincial Tourism delegation.
The French come first among tourists who visited the city between January and April of the current year with 28,423 people (+4% compared to the same period of 2013), followed by the Germans with 15,574 people (+31%) and the Japanese with 11,144 visitors (+39%).
The largest increase by source market was in the Spanish market with +72% (9,085 tourists), underlines the same source.
Furthermore, the number of overnight stays recorded an increase of around 23%, from 133,601 between January and April 2013 to 164,468 during the same period of the current year.
The occupancy rate of classified hotels in Ouarzazate stood at 30% during the first four months of 2014, compared to 22% a year earlier.
