The trophy recognizing Fez as the best destination and “favorite region of Internet users” for the year 2016 was presented during a ceremony, organized Saturday evening at the initiative of “Tourisma Post” with the support of the Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT) and the National Tourism Confederation (CNT).
The president of the ONMT, Abderrafie Zouiten, who presented the trophy to the wali of the Fez-Meknes region, Essaid Zniber, governor of the prefecture of Fez, highlighted the long-term work and efforts made by local operators to make the Idrissid city a global tourist destination.
For the organizers, this distinction was awarded to Fez and its “Morocco center” region following a large survey, organized from July 1 to September 18, 2016 by “Tourisma Post”, the Moroccan portal specializing in this competition, and its Facebook page.
Moreover, the ONMT, in partnership with other public and private operators, aims in the near future to reposition this destination, through the improvement of travel offers.
This objective is dependent on better development and promotion of the many natural and cultural assets of Fez and its region, as well as the continued strengthening of its reception infrastructures.
This ceremony took place in the presence of the governors of the provinces in the Fez-Meknes region, territorial officials of the region, economic operators, as well as elected officials.
