1st Sardi Show in Settat: The palpable effect of the Green Morocco Plan

This event brings together more than 270 exhibitors. A platform which will offer until March 28 the unique and pioneering opportunity to all professionals concerned to highlight this sector, both in terms of offers and expertise and support.

Spreading over a total area of 60,000 m2 including 15,000 seats, the first national professional Sardi Show is a socio-economic platform with the aim of being a showcase promoting the breeding of this breed, while being a place to highlight good practices in breeding. Thus, compartmentalized into spaces dedicated to the exhibition of animals and five parallel activity centers, the show opened its doors on Saturday in Settat, under the theme “Sardi, a national heritage to promote and safeguard” organized under the aegis of the Ministry of Agriculture and Maritime Fisheries. Indeed, focused on the exchange of experiences, this event brings together more than 270 exhibitors.

A platform which will offer until March 28 the unique and pioneering opportunity to all professionals concerned to highlight this sector, both in terms of offers and expertise and support. In this sense, Mohamed Sadiki, secretary general of the ministry, estimated that “this first edition, organized by the regional directorate of agriculture of Casablanca-Settat in partnership with the Association of the National Professional Livestock Show (ASNPE) and the provincial council of Settat, reflects the dynamic instilled by the Green Morocco Plan for the promotion and development of the sheep industry”.And added that“for the implementation of the plan of development of the red meat sector, a first program contract was signed between the government and the Interprofessional Federation of Red Meats (Fiviar) for the period 2009-2014, noting that the objectives set were achieved with a production of 450,000 tonnes of red meat in 2013. A second program contract was concluded for the period 2014-2020 in order to ensure the continuity of the development of the sector around upstream and downstream.

For his part, Doctor Abderahim Asri, president of the National Association of the Professional Livestock Show, affirmed that “this show constitutes national recognition of this sheep breed characteristic of sheep breeding in Morocco which also contributes to the development of an important breeding sector with essential benefits for rural populations and marketing circuits”. “This event also aims to contribute to the control of production on a quantitative and qualitative level of this breed, the organization of marketing to integrate formal circuits and the promotion in the medium and long term of a real policy for the exploitation of Sardi and derived products on the African continent, the Arab world and European countries”, indicates Mr. Asri.

In fact, the said association was keen to associate renowned stakeholders in the field of agriculture and livestock farming with this exhibition, notably Crédit Agricole, OCP, the National Association of Sheep and Goat Breeders (Anoc), the Association of Composite Feed Manufacturers (Afac) as well as a delegation from Ivory Coast in charge of agricultural development (ANADER) and many other establishments.
