
Agadir: 17% increase in tourist arrivals in March
The tourism sector in Agadir continues its improvement in 2017 with an increase of 17.91% in arrivals in March which also confirms the good performance of the domestic market.
According to statistics from the Souss-Massa Regional Tourism Council (CRT), the number of arrivals in classified hotels in the leading national seaside destination increased to 72,851 tourists compared to 61,786.
Nationals top the list of customers during this period with 21,191, an increase of 26% compared to the same period last year.
In second place, the Germans totaled 12,302 arrivals, a clear increase of 49.48%, followed by the French with a jump of 21.73%, going from 9,983 to 12,152 last month, while tourists from Poland increased by 28.65%.
According to the CRT press release, 4-star hotels remain the most popular with tourists visiting Agadir, welcoming 26,132 visitors compared to 17,385 for 5-star establishments.
Since the start of the winter season, the destination Agadir has shown double-digit growth.
The Regional Tourism Council says it is optimistic for the rest of the year thanks to a strong promotion and communication campaign and the strengthening of air transport.
Starting next October, a plane will be based in Agadir with a schedule of 14 rotations per week. The objective is to increase the volume of aircraft seats on point-to-point airlines between Agadir Al Massira airport and major European cities.
