After the success of its first edition, the international Ibn Battuta festival organized by the Moroccan Association Ibn Battuta, will return from November 9 to 12, 2017 in Tangier.
Indeed, this second edition promises to be more festive. First, it will be placed under the sign “Travelers, ambassadors of peace”. Mohamed Dekkak, honorary president of the association, declared that the theme of this edition was chosen to “illustrate the essential role that travel and tourism can play in promoting peace and cooperation between peoples”, thereby underlining “the cultural diversity enjoyed by humanity and the importance of its preservation”. On the other hand, the president of the Moroccan Association of Ibn Battuta, Aziz Benami, explains that “the festival, which aims to perpetuate the tribute that the great traveler deserves, is an excellent opportunity to transmit the values of wisdom and courage which make Ibn Battuta an exceptional historical character”.
The Ibn Battuta International Festival is therefore the meeting place for travel lovers, tourism industry professionals, cultural and literary actors, artists and the general public. As a result, the event offers a rich and varied program. On the menu, conference-debates, meetings with geographers, travelers, peace ambassadors, cultural exhibitions, shows, street art, a carnival, travel readings, film screenings on travel and peace, and various other socio-cultural activities. These different activities will be organized in different neighborhoods of the strait city during the four days, making Tangier an open-air museum and a meeting place between peoples.
It must be said that the Moroccan Association of Ibn Battouta carries out several actions to promote the famous traveler Ibn Battuta, thus perpetuating the tribute to the famous character who was passionate about travel and a pioneer in the discovery of other cultures and civilizations.
