2018 LOOKS GOOD FOR ACCOR

The hotel group, which ended 2017 with good achievements, expects a good start to 2018 in view of the recovery shown by the tourism sector and the reservations it has recorded.

The recovery recorded this year by the tourism sector in Morocco has fully benefited the Accor group. “2017 was an exceptional year for the group in Morocco, particularly in terms of network development, with among others the opening of 3 new Ibis,” underlines Ismail Loubaris, director of sales, marketing and distribution AccorHotels Maroc. These are Rabat Agdal, Casa Voyageurs and Mohammedia, which is in soft opening and which will be officially inaugurated soon. It will be followed by the opening of the Novotel in the same city during the first quarter of 2018. Openings which increase the hotelier’s accommodation capacity in Morocco. Thus, with the Ibis Agdal (Rbat), which required an investment of 85 million dirhams and which opened on January 5, the group will have 170 more rooms. According to Accor management, this is a flagship of the range which reflects the group’s new strategy for Ibis hotels around the world.

The Ibis Casa Voyageurs has 130 rooms, and that of Mohammedia 98. This, without forgetting the Novotel of Mohammedia which will have a capacity of 114 rooms and another Ibis planned on Boulevard Abdelmoumen in Casablanca. “This year, we also took over the management of the Fairmont Royal Palm Marrakech, which has 134 rooms,” specifies the director of sales, marketing and distribution AccorHotels Morocco. Regarding the group’s performance during 2017, it was satisfactory. “Occupancy rates in our hotels are on average between 15 and 20% depending on the city. These are rates that are well above the averages displayed by those on the market,” explains Loubaris. As for the forecasts for next year, the latter is confident. “We are in an industry where it is difficult to make forecasts. However, the outlook for 2018 looks good, given the reservations we have recorded,” notes Loubaris.

To support these forecasts, the group proudly displays the prices obtained by its establishments. These include the Sofitel Thalassa Sea & Spa which won the prize for Best luxury Thalasso & Spa resort in Africa and that of Best hotel with private beach in Africa. There is also the prize for Best seaside resort in Morocco, awarded by the World Luxury Awards and obtained by the Sofitel Agadir Royal Bay. The World Luxury Awards also awarded the Sofitel White Tower Most Beautiful Luxury Design Hotel in Morocco and Best Luxury Business Hotel in Morocco…
