Air: Tangier connects to Milan
Italy is moving closer to North Africa. From the end of March, Tangier will be linked by a direct air connection to Milan-Bergamo airport, according to the region’s Regional Tourism Council (CRT). The connection will be provided by Ryanair, a low-cost airline which also operates various other routes to France, Spain, Belgium, Holland and Germany from Ibn Batouta airport in Tangier.
This new link is the result of the efforts undertaken by the ONMT for the development of air connectivity in the Northern region. It joins other new flights which connect the city to Palma de Mallorca and Frankfurt. Milan is the seat of an important air hub which connects the rest of Italy with comfortable connections in addition to being the industrial capital of the country.
This connection targets both tourists looking for pleasure and businessmen attracted by the industrial development of the city of Tangier, mainly in the automobile sector. These new lines are also encouraged by the exponential growth of Ibn Batouta airport, which managed to exceed the one million passenger mark last December.
Tangier experienced an excellent tourism year in 2017 with growth rates unlike those of the past. he densification of the air network should allow the city to raise the bar. In its efforts to promote and develop a tourist destination, the ONMT has launched a trial balloon in Tetouan. Its airport, Saniat Rmel, is preparing to receive its first flights from Paris
