Prices would drop by 2% in 2019 in Morocco
Moroccan hotels should be a little more accessible next year. Their prices would show drops of up to 2% over one year in 2019, according to the Dutch study and research firm BCD Travel. The Kingdom is also one of the rare countries in Africa where the prices of hotel establishments are falling. In Egypt, for example, prices are expected to increase by up to 2%. On the continent, “tariffs are expected to show growth of 1 to 3%,” reads the report entitled “Industry Forecast 2019”.
This growth corresponds exactly to the global average expected by the Dutch firm. It also corresponds to the forecast progression in Europe, Latin America, North America and the South-West Pacific. In Asia and the Middle East, price increases would be between 0 and 2%, according to the authors of the report. The research firm describes all of these variations, in one direction or the other, as “modest”. He also delivers his vision on the progress of the high-speed line project in Morocco. “This new service which will connect Tangier to Casablanca at the end of 2018 will provide a competitive alternative to air transport.”
The authors further provided an analysis of the African supply of new hotel units expected for next year, public transport and air transport. The latter would see its prices change slightly in 2019, predicts the firm. Thus, on intercontinental flights, Business class tickets would remain stable while those in economy class would decrease by 1%. For regional flights, economy ticket prices would increase by 1% compared to stagnation in Business class.
If the document details these sectors, it does not, however, address the African offer dedicated to businesses, consisting mainly of conference spaces, although detailed for the other regions of the world.
