The Hilton chain is back in Rabat
HOTELS – The Hilton hotel chain returns to the Moroccan capital. In 2022, a 150-room hotel will be built on the banks of the river between Rabat and Salé, as part of the Wessal Bouregreg development project.
An agreement with the Wessal Capital fund was recently signed in Dubai for the construction of this hotel which will include several restaurants, an outdoor swimming pool, a spa, a lounge and meeting spaces, the hotel group said in a press release on Tuesday March 27.
The Hilton group opened a permanent representative office last year to ensure its development in North Africa, as well as two hotels in Tangier, recalled the group’s president. Three other hotels in the chain are under construction in the kingdom, in Al Houara, Taghazout Bay and Casablanca.
For his part, the general manager of Wessal Capital, Abderrahmane El Ouazzani, declared that “the signing of this management contract with the Hilton group is of particular importance, since it is the first in a long list of future hotel establishments that Wessal Capital intends to develop”.
The Hilton Rabat will be located on the cultural square of Wessal Bouregreg, close to the new business district and several entertainment facilities, such as a shopping center and the Grand Théâtre de Rabat, currently under construction.
The Hilton group established itself in the 1960s in Rabat where it built a hotel in the Souissi district, before giving way to the current Sofitel.
