Air Arabia boosts domestic tourism in Dakhla

These weekly flights, including 4 to Casablanca and 3 to Marrakech and Tangier, will be operated by Airbus A320s with a capacity of 174 seats.

On this occasion, an official launch ceremony for the inaugural flight of these lines was organized in the presence of the wali of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region, Lamine Benomar, the president of the Regional Council, Khattat Yanja, the general director of Air Arabia Maroc, Leila Mechbal, in addition to elected officials and representatives of external services. 

In a press statement, Khattat Yanja indicated that the launch of these flights, the result of an agreement between the Regional Council and the low-cost airline, aims to strengthen air connections between the region and other cities, to give new impetus to tourism promotion and to achieve socio-economic development in this part of Morocco.

Through such initiatives, the Regional Council aims to support local development and highlight the economic and tourist assets available to the region, he noted, noting that the objective is to attract more investments and increase trade between Dakhla-Oued Eddahab and other regions of the Kingdom and beyond. 

For her part, Leila Mechbal told MAP that the launch of these lines will help boost domestic tourism, strengthen air transport services and promote trade between Dakhla-Oued Eddahab and other regions of Morocco. 

The prices set for these flights are suitable (from 500 dirhams), underlined the general director of Air Arabia Maroc, adding that the aim is to encourage citizens to visit Dakhla, a city of national and world renown, and to discover the natural, tourist and cultural potential of the region. 

In addition, she noted that these three lines were launched with the support of the Ministry of Tourism, Air Transport, Crafts and Social Economy, in addition to the Air Transport Directorate. 

For his part, the regional tourism delegate, Daifallah Andour, estimated that this initiative will have a positive impact on the influx of tourists to the region, indicating that he expects a 50% increase in the number of visitors following the launch of these flights.
