Tourism: Morocco, favorite destination outside Europe for French travelers
Of the historic record of 14.5 million foreign visitors coming to Morocco in 2023, 4.88 million arrived from France, or more than a third. Thus, the kingdom is the first destination outside Europe for tourists from France, according to the Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT). This figure places France at the top of the national tourist market, ahead of Spain and the United Kingdom, recalls Le Figaro. According to the same source, the most visited cities are respectively Marrakech, Agadir and Tangier. All of these statistics show that Morocco records one million more visitors than the objective set by the government roadmap for 2023-2026, which is 13.5 million for 2023, the media adds. Additionally, the number of foreign tourists increased by 41% between 2022 and 2023, constituting 49% of overall arrivals. Moroccans living abroad (MRE) represent the remaining 51%, or more than 27% in one year.
