
FIFA ranking: the Atlas Lions keep their first African place
FIFA unveiled its first ranking for 2024 this Thursday, February 15. The Atlas Lions, still first at the African level, moved up one place.
The Atlas Lions moved up one place in the latest FIFA ranking, published this Thursday, February 15 by the governing body of world football. Walid Regragui’s men, eliminated from the round of 16 stage of the 2023 African Cup of Nations, find themselves in 12th place with a total of 1663.39 points. At the continental level, nothing changes, the Atlas Lions are still first ahead of Senegal (17th).
Nigeria, unfortunate finalist, gains 14 places and climbs to the third step of the continental podium (28th). Egypt maintains its fourth place in Africa, but falls to 3rd place globally (36th). The Ivorians, reigning African champions, entered the Top 5 and found themselves in 39th place in the world. For its part, Jordan of Houcine Ammouta, finalist of the Asian Cup, made good progress (70th, +17). The Top 10 of the FIFA World Ranking remains unchanged. Argentina still remains in the lead, followed by France and England.
