Blue economy in Morocco: an example to follow according to the WB
During the African Oceans Week in Tangier, the Country Director of the World Bank, Ahmadou Moustapha Ndiaye, praised Morocco’s integrated approach to the blue economy, considered an « example to follow. » Morocco, thanks to funding of $350 million from the WB, has put in place initiatives to develop fishing and coastal tourism in a sustainable strategy. This strategy, which places Morocco as a regional leader, attracts African delegations wishing to draw inspiration from it. According to Mr. Ndiaye, the blue economy already generates more than 300 billion dollars and supports 50 million people in Africa.
