Gérard Piqué in Morocco: between football and ambitious projects for the Kings League

This weekend, Gérard Piqué made waves in Morocco, but not on a professional football field this time. The legendary former FC Barcelona defender and co-founder of the Kings League attended a Botola Pro match between DHJ (Difaa El Jadidi) and Moghreb de Fez, which ended with a draw (1-1). A meeting rich in emotions, like Moroccan football, known for its electric atmosphere and its passionate supporters.

But Piqué was not there just to enjoy the show. Welcomed by Ilyas El Malki, a very popular Moroccan streamer, the Spaniard took the opportunity to make an announcement that delighted fans: El Malki will participate in the Kings League Club World Cup in 2025. News that quickly created a buzz, as the influencer is appreciated in Morocco for his energy and his love of football.

“It is an immense pride to represent my country in an event as unique as the Kings League. Thanks to Gérard for this opportunity, I will give everything to honor Morocco,” said El Malki, visibly moved by this recognition.

For his part, Piqué explained that this collaboration is part of a desire to open the Kings League to new cultures and new talents. “Morocco is a country that lives and breathes football. Having Ilyas with us is a way to connect the Kings League even more to passionate communities and to show that football can be both competitive and fun,” he said.

The Kings League, this slightly crazy project launched by Piqué in 2023, continues to surprise. Between innovative rules, short matches and participation from web stars, it has managed to attract a new generation of fans. And with the arrival of personalities like Ilyas El Malki, it takes on an even more international dimension.

On site, Piqué also took the time to interact with the supporters, signing autographs and sharing selfies. His time in Morocco was marked by a simplicity and closeness that won over the locals. “It’s incredible to see a legend like him take an interest in our championship and our talents,” commented a young fan we met leaving the stadium.

With this announcement, the Kings League 2025 already promises to be an extraordinary event. Between football, entertainment and cultural discoveries, Piqué continues to reinvent the game, while bringing together enthusiasts from around the world. One thing is certain: we can’t wait to see what it will bring!
