Territorial Development at the heart of the debates: Marrakech hosts “Consultation meetings” on the new generation of integrated programs

By Mohamed Khartouf

As part of the strengthening of decentralization and the activation of national strategies at the local level, the Prefecture of Marrakech hosted this morning, November 13, 2025, « Meetings of consultation ».

These meetings aim to inaugurate a new phase of development action by focusing on the « New generation of integrated territorial development programs ». This initiative aims to involve the various local and regional actors, representatives of external services and civil society, in the development of development strategies characterized by integration and realism, and which directly respond to the specificities and needs of each province.

These consultative meetings represent a crucial step in the implementation of the national vision aimed at achieving sustainable and balanced development, with emphasis on the convergence and complementarity of development projects at the provincial level. They are of paramount importance because they lay the foundations for the next generation of programs which will emphasize the effectiveness of territorial governance, restructuring of the relationship between the center and the region, and the activation of a participatory approach guaranteeing the engagement of all parties concerned in the planning and execution process.

Public authorities count on this integrated approach to overcome regional challenges and achieve a sustainable economic and social recovery, in accordance with the High Royal Guidelines regarding regional development. The choice of the Marrakech Prefecture as a platform for these meetings is a symbolic starting point, given the strategic position of the city as a major economic and tourist hub.

It is expected that this series of consultations will lead to conclusions and practical recommendations which will be integrated into the development of regional and provincial action programs for the years to come, which reflects a strong desire to deepen good governance and anchor the principle of linking responsibility to accountability in the management of public affairs locales.
