The commune of Oukaïmeden clarifies the reality concerning the payment of “15 dirhams” to access the ski resort.

The commune of Oukaïmeden has published official details concerning the wide controversy aroused by the collection of 15 dirhams from visitors at the entrance to the ski resort, following the wave of criticism which has invaded social networks since the last snowfall. a symbolic tax intended to improve reception conditions and preserve the safety of visitors
She explained that this tax includes several services, in particular the organization of parking, the orientation of drivers, traffic management, the facilitation of entry and exit from the station, as well as the allocation of parking spaces according to the type and size of vehicles, in addition to the service of guarding
The municipality also underlined that the management of the station is ensured by a delegated private company in accordance with a legal market, part of the revenues of which are transferred to the municipal budget to finance infrastructure and public service projects
The press release adds that the pricing applied is seasonal and temporary, only applying during periods of snow, and that it contributes to creating temporary jobs for the benefit of the region’s inhabitants
The municipality specified that the operation of the car parks is done via an open call for tenders, and that the company in charge obtained the contract after having paid the total amount to the municipal budget
It finally indicated that pricing is defined in the local tax decision approved by the competent authorities, and that the place of payment is fixed in the specifications also legally validated, which makes this operation a stable and legally structured municipal resource.
