
Winds and rain cause parts of the ceiling of Marrakech airport to fall… air traffic remains secure
Marrakech-Menara airport has experienced, in recent hours, an accidental incident consisting of the fall of limited parts of the false ceiling of the dome located at the level of the urban facade, due to the weather disturbances which affected the city, marked by heavy rains and violent winds.
The National Airports Office (ONDA) published a press release specifying that this incident had no impact on the progress of flights or on reception services, passenger movement having continued normally, without disruption or human damage.
According to the same source, the technical teams intervened immediately upon detection of the first signs, by marking the area concerned and implementing all preventive measures necessary in order to avoid any potential risk, which allowed the incident to take place without injuries.
The Office also indicated that the situation is being rigorously monitored, alongside the launch of in-depth technical assessments aimed at determining the exact causes of the incident, while scheduling repair and restoration work as quickly as possible, in accordance with the safety and quality standards in force.
