Maritime fishing: ban on exporting frozen sardines to preserve the national market and accelerate the digital transition

The Secretary of State for Maritime Fisheries, Zakia Driouich, affirmed that the decision to ban the export of frozen sardines is part of the measures aimed at preserving the balance of the national market and guaranteeing sufficient supply at affordable prices for consumers, stressing that this orientation is part of a global policy of upgrading the sector. maritime fishing.
During her intervention at the weekly oral questions session in the House of Representatives, held this Monday, Ms. Driouich indicated that the maritime fishing sector is experiencing an accelerated digital transformation, thanks to the adoption of modern technologies in the fields of scientific research, fisheries management and the modernization of marketing circuits.
The government official specified that the digitalization project was effectively launched with the implementation of the “Halieutis” strategy, which has made the transition to a “zero paper” approach one of its priorities, particularly with regard to seafood export procedures, affirming that export operations are now entirely secure and supervised by digital systems.
In the same context, Ms. Driouich stressed that the ministry has proceeded with the digitalization of the marketing system, particularly at the level of first-sale markets, with the aim of strengthening transparency and traceability of products.
This approach has been generalized to 68 markets out of a total of 76 nationally.
She also noted that digitalization also concerns the control of fishing activities at sea, noting that all fishing vessels operating in Moroccan waters have been equipped with satellite tracking systems, allowing precise control of their movements and guaranteeing compliance with the regulations in force.
