71% of Moroccans book their trip online
A recent online survey by Nielsen reveals that 93% of participants worldwide confirm that they shop online. The Moroccans surveyed rank the categories “travel”, “fashion” and “computer and mobile” as the most popular purchases on online stores.
“The Internet penetration rate is increasing rapidly and 65% of the Moroccan population is currently connected. The country is going digital, a recurring theme of recent major conferences led by industry professionals,” explains Anas Touzani, Nielsen sales director, Maghreb region. “This new digital landscape is changing consumer purchasing and advertising behavior, forcing retailers and brands to rethink their go-to-market strategy. »
While in the rest of the world, social networking sites and online stores represent the main point of impact in terms of decision-making, the Moroccan market is positioned differently. These visual touchpoints rank behind the physical store in every category from clothing to electronics.
Nielsen’s global e-commerce survey was conducted in more than 20 countries around the world. Survey results are based on responses from more than 30,000 respondents with online access in 63 countries.
