22 luxury hotels and hotel parks will be opened in Morocco in 2017

A study prepared for the Index North Africa show indicates that 52 hotel construction projects are currently planned in the kingdom, including 22 which will be completed in 2017.

No less than 52 hotel construction projects are currently planned in the kingdom, including 22 which will be completed in 2017, and all of them by 2020. This data comes from a recent study carried out on behalf of the dedicated show at the Index North Africa design and decoration, which will take place in Casablanca from December 5 to 7. For Samantha Kane-Macdonald, director of the event, this means that « Morocco is preparing to compete with the world’s leading tourist destinations. » And to specify that the kingdom is currently only ahead of the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia in terms of hotel construction projects in the Middle East and Africa.

The 22 hotels that Morocco is preparing to welcome next year will add 3,171 five-star rooms and suites to the national capacity, and are considered by experts as the first step of Vision 2020, which aims to attract 20 million tourists per year by 2020. These include, among others, the renovated Tazi Palace hotel in Tangier, the Oberoi, Park Hyatt, Grace Marrakech and Shaza Marrakech hotels, as well as the Rabat Marriott hotel. Kane-Macdonald sees in this considerable investment “an immense margin of maneuver for local construction, and for architectural and interior companies”.

Index North Africa, which will be held at the Office des Changes Exhibition Centre, aims to be the meeting place between African design professionals and suppliers of international interior products. For three days, it will welcome architects, decorators, real estate developers, buyers, engineers, etc.
