Tourism: Marrakech told by the New York Times

Marrakech continues to inspire Westerners. And for good reason, the New York Times dedicated an article to him on February 2, soberly titled “36 hours in Marrakech”. From Guéliz to the medina via upscale places in Marrakech, the ocher city is told with poetry.  

“The Jewel of the South,” as the city is described by the New York Times, is told in great detail. Thus, “the narrow streets similar to labyrinths” rub shoulders with the Guéliz district, this “modern boulevard”. Marrakech has a “rich culture of new independent museums, galleries, gardens and creative spaces.” Assets that demonstrate “the talent of Moroccans and international artists”.

Several places dedicating a place to art were chosen, such as the Moroccan Company of Works and Objects of Art (CMOOA) and the Museum of Contemporary African Art. For outings, Point Bar, Le 68, Le Jardin Secret or Café Clock have been selected. The American newspaper even mentions the precise time at which one must go to this or that place.

Finally, the essential passage to the medina to go to the Chérifia souk is not missing: “A treasure hunt which offers the chance to explore a myriad of passages”, writes the NYT. The opportunity for tourists to discover traditional handicraft objects, whose reputation is no longer in doubt.
