Morocco: the 5th edition of “African Davos” launched
In strengthening the South-South cooperation so dear to King Mohammed VI, the International Africa Development Forum (Fiad) has a strategic place. This is how, put into orbit by the royal holding company through the National Investment Company (SNI) via its subsidiary Attijariwafa Bank, the Fiad was inaugurated on March 16 by Roch Marc Christian Kaboré, President of Burkina Faso.
A theme all about inclusion
After “time to invest” and “agriculture and electrification: mobilizing energies”, for the penultimate and last edition, the theme chosen for this fifth edition is that of “new models of inclusive growth in Africa”. Logical with the will and dynamics of the Shereef kingdom inscribed in a tight network for better integration of the economies of the South to be restructured in order, on the one hand, to create the most value locally and, on the other, to share this value in such a way as to benefit the maximum number of people.
To open the first day, there were introductory remarks launched by President Kaboré of Burkina, followed by the CEO of the Attijariwafa Bank group, Mohamed El Kettani, Salaheddine Mezouar, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Morocco, Miriem Bensalah-Chaqroun, president of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises, Siandou Fofana, Minister of Tourism of the Coast d’Ivoire, Madeleine Berre, Gabonese Minister for the Promotion of Private Investment, and finally Mouna Kadiri, director of the Africa Development Club of the Attijariwafa Bank group. Three plenaries followed: “the role of economic actors in the creation of shared value in Africa”, “urbanization and the acceleration of social inclusion”, and finally “how to accelerate financial inclusion”.
Determine the issues, seize the opportunities
Overall, around agriculture, electrification, access to housing, infrastructure, urbanization and many other issues, more than 1,500 African and international economic and institutional operators from more than 20 countries exchanged to identify both the issues, but also the opportunities. In this dynamic, public actors are of course at the forefront, but also private actors in determining the investments to be made and finding ways and means to optimize their approaches. Enough to justify the Investment Market where eight countries were able to present both their national development plans and their projects. Thus Burkina Faso, Madagascar, Rwanda, Congo, Tunisia, Egypt, Ivory Coast and Senegal, also carriers of structuring projects.
Reward to encourage
After the work, the rewards. This Friday, after the restitution of the recommendations chaired by President Kaboré, it is planned to make way for the South-South Cooperation Trophies rewarding the three companies having contributed to the development of intra-African trade and investments, but also for the Young Entrepreneur Trophies in the “Innovation”, “Social Entrepreneurship” and “Development” categories.
