
Tourist arrivals in Brazil in 2016: Morocco 1st Arab country
Brazil welcomed 6.6 million foreign visitors in 2016, up 4.3% from the year before.
Morocco leads Arab countries in terms of tourist arrivals to Brazil in 2016, with nearly 5,000 Moroccan tourists having visited the South American giant, according to data from the Brazilian Ministry of Tourism presented on Tuesday. According to figures from the “Tourism Statistical Yearbook”, nearly 4,902 Moroccan tourists visited Brazil in 2016, a figure up 1.3% compared to the year before. Egypt comes in second place with 4,435 Egyptian visitors (+12.1%), followed by Lebanon, third, with nearly 3,067 tourists who visited Brazil in 2016 (-0.3%), specifies the ministry.
In 2016, 21,244 Syrian tourists visited Brazil (-50% compared to 2015), as did 2,032 Tunisian tourists (+17.8%) and 1,225 Saudi tourists (-20.1%), adds the same source. In total, Brazil welcomed 6.6 million foreign visitors in 2016, an increase of 4.3% compared to the year before, continues the Tourism Statistical Yearbook, noting that Argentina comes at the top of the countries sending tourists to Brazil (2.3 million tourists).
