
Agadir: Rich programming for the 14th edition of the Timitar festival
The city of Agadir will be there from July 5 to 8 with the 14th edition of its “Timitar, signs and culture” festival with the leitmotif: Amazigh music welcomes world music.
Initiated under the high patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, this cultural and artistic event this year offers 40 shows on three stages hosted by more than 400 artists, the organizers indicate in a press release.
“The magical encounter between music, diversity, talents and tolerance continues and strengthens from year to year for the happiness of festival-goers,” adds the same source which expects the presence, like each edition, of nearly a million spectators over four days.
On the bill for this edition is a host of artists from Morocco, Ghana, Angola, Gabon, Senegal, Cape Verde, Algeria, Ivory Coast, South Africa, Lebanon, Cuba, Estonia and Japan.
According to the organizers’ press release, Timitar « is taking the challenge, once again, of showing that the bridges built by men are first heard by souls and emotions. »
Among the Moroccan artists who will host this edition, we cite Asma Lemnouar, Abdelaziz Stati, Ghany, Ahmad Soultan, Najat Rajoui, Hamid Bouchnaq, Sami Ray, Nouri, Mehdi Qamoum, group Masta Flow, Ribab Fusion, Hicham Massin, Rayssa Fatima Tabaamrant, Rayss Hassan Arsmouk, as well as the musical troupes of Ahwach Mesguina, Tiout and Tafingoult.
Several figures of international music are announced such as Oumou Sangare from Mali, Wiyaala from Gana, Bruna Tatiana from Angola, Les Afrodiziac from Gabon, Ibrahim Ferrer from Cuba, Elida Elmeida from Cape Verde and musical groups: Mashrou’ Leila from Lebanon, Les Amazones d’Afrique from Mali, Trad Attack from Estonia, Arnaud N’Gaza from Ivory Coast, Labess from Algeria and Nomfusi from South Africa.
