
Marhaba 2017: More than 22,000 MRE passed through Al-Hoceima crossing points
Some 22,091 Moroccans residing abroad (MRE) have returned to the Kingdom via the various transit points in Al-Hoceima since the launch of operation “Marhaba 2017” on June 6 and until July 31.
In a statement to MAP, the customs authorizing officer in Al Hoceima, Fahd Allabouch, underlined that the number of passengers has experienced a particular dynamic since the start of the operation in the province of Al-Hoceima with a total of 13,148 people at the Al-Hoceima maritime terminal and 8,943 via the Acharif Al Idrissi airport. The number of cars passing through the Al Hoceima ferry terminal during the same period amounted to 3,319, the official added.
Moreover, the last week of July saw a significant increase in the number of passengers passing through the various crossing points in the province of Al-Hoceima, recording a total of 7,804 people and 1,600 cars, he noted. The Customs Administration organized a series of meetings at the regional and local levels with a view to raising awareness among all stakeholders of the importance of this operation and ensuring the best reception conditions for MREs, noted Mr. Allabouch.
