
Co-financed by Morocco: A typically Moroccan hotel on the island of Dominica
The presence of the Moroccan team is not only explained by the architecture of the hotel, typically Moroccan. The Cabrits Resort and Spa, that is the name of the establishment, is in fact a hotel which is co-financed by the Moroccan state to the tune of 250 million DH. This is a project carried out by the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (Amci) which initiates and finances other development projects mainly in Africa but also in other countries, notably in Latin America.
Effectively launched in 2011, construction work on Cabrits Resort and Spa has been significantly slowed down due to climatic conditions and the numerous hurricanes, cyclones and other storms which regularly pass through the region of the islands off the coast of the Americas. The last hurricane to pass by, Maria, particularly damaged the site’s installations.
Quoted recently by the Dominican media, a local project manager welcomed the arrival of additional labor and technicians from Morocco, indicating that the structural and structural work is practically completed and that the finishing, equipment and furnishing work has already started.
On the program, arcades, fountains, lounges, tapestry, coverings, zellige and tadellakt typically Moroccan.
