Azilal: Resumption of tourist activities at Cathedral Mount
Mountain tourism has found its enthusiasts who have come in large numbers to Mont de la Cathédrale (commune of Zaouïat Ahansal) to celebrate the resumption of their activities after the harsh ordeal of confinement. Fans of mountain walks, canyoning, rafting and hiking came together to practice their favorite sports in compliance with the measures recommended by public authorities relating to the wearing of protective masks, physical distancing and health hygiene measures.
Imsfrane Cathedral, with its intoxicating beauty, which rises to an altitude of 1,872 meters, takes its name from its church-shaped rock structure. A rock structure perfectly similar to the architectural structure of a medieval church. The magnificent, breathtaking rock is located 15 kilometers from the Tillougite village, nestled in the High Atlas near the commune of Zaouïat Ahansal, distinguished by its Aleppo pines and sumptuous river valleys which make it the destination par excellence for high-level mountaineers and hikers.
At Oued Ahansal, water sports enthusiasts gathered to practice canyoning and their favorite sports in the fresh waters of this pond and to discover the rivers and gorges of this river. Furthermore, with the rise in temperature in recent days, several campers from Béni Mellal have also come to set up their tents at the edge of this lake in the province of Azilal, to take advantage of the little coolness brought by this pond nestled between the Cathedral and Azourki mountains. These young people, fleeing the heatwave of Béni Mellal, taste the joys of camping by sometimes taking refuge in their tents, or refreshing themselves from time to time in the crystal blue water of Oued Ahansal, to endure this episode of heat which approaches 48 degrees at this time of year.
Oued Ahansal, whose calm and clear waters make it a tourist destination par excellence for all lovers of water sports, has also attracted dozens of Mellalie families and local tourists who let themselves be carried away by the heavenly landscape of this lake.
