Summer 2021 promises to be “favorable” for Moroccan tourism
The summer period promises to be “favorable” for the tourism sector, following Morocco’s decision to gradually reopen its air borders, from June 15, 2021, estimates the Directorate of Studies and Financial Forecasts (DEPF) under the Ministry of the Economy, Finance and Administration Reform.
This opening takes into account the evolution of the epidemiological situation at the national level and at the level of the countries of origin, with special measures in favor of Moroccans living abroad (MRE) to facilitate their access to the Kingdom, specifies the DEPF in its recent economic report.
On the maritime side, the “Marhaba 2021” operation started on June 15 and will take place from the same transit points of last year with the prerequisite health conditions to cross the national territory, said the same source, adding that according to the Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT), 42 airlines including 4 new ones will resume their activities in Morocco following the resumption of flights to serve 43 countries.
Between June 15 and September 30, 3.5 million airline seats will be made available to travelers, or nearly three-quarters of the capacity offered during the same period of 2019.
