
Tourism: travel revenue at a record 105 billion dirhams in 2023
Travel receipts in foreign currency recorded an absolute record of 105 billion dirhams (MMDH) in 2023, up 12% compared to 2022, according to the Ministry of Tourism, Crafts and the Social and Solidarity Economy. “After the record arrivals of 14.5 million tourists in 2023, it is the turn of travel receipts in foreign currency to record their absolute record of 105 billion dirhams. This is a growth of 12% compared to 2022, confirming the exceptional dynamics of tourism in 2023,” indicates the ministry in a press release.
“Tourism revenues in 2023 have crossed the mark of 100 billion dirhams, further confirming the position of tourism as one of the largest providers of foreign currency for our country,” said the Minister of Tourism, Crafts and of the Social and Solidarity Economy, Fatim-Zahra Ammor, quoted in the press release. And to support: “This achievement fits perfectly with the roadmap objective of reaching 120 billion dirhams by 2026, and we will continue to work on the diversification of Morocco’s entertainment offering which should contribute significantly to the increase in spending by foreign tourists.” With MAP
