
Call to renowned international investors for the development of the Moroccan hotel industry during CAN 2025
As part of the relativization of the Moroccan hotel industry, the Minister of Tourism, Crafts, Social and Solidarity Economy, Fatim-zahra Ammor, calls on renowned international investors to put this initiative into practice on the occasion of CAN 2025 and the 2023 Football World Cup. The tourism sector is a key driver of economic development, currencies, job creation and investments, especially with the advent of the 2025 African Cup of Nations and the 2023 Football World Cup. The arrival of a large number of teams will promise the hotel industry a notable influx, it is indeed an opportunity for Morocco to highlight its assets at a time when the country is considered to be a main tourist destination on the southern shore of the Mediterranean. In this regard, Minister of Tourism Fatim-Zahra Ammor notified an initiative with the aim of revitalizing the Moroccan hotel industry. An approach which is part of the preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2023 Football World Cup and which mainly aims to restructure and relaunch closed hotels in several cities including Agadir and Ouarzazate in close collaboration with the largest international investors, such as Hospitality ABS, TUI and PICKALBATROS. This progress refers to a subject that was raised by the independent parliamentary group and which boils down to the closure of various hotel establishments. The minister also specified that the two cities of Agadir and Ouarzazate remain a priority due to the high concentration of inactive hotels with plans to deploy these efforts in several other regions. As a result, the ministerial action plan focuses on three key areas. First of all, it aims to nest experienced investors in order to boost the hotel sector, starting with Agadir and Ouarzazate where contacts have already been established with investors for 23 establishments. Then, the plan encourages the use of the Mohammed VI Fund for investment with the imminent introduction of funds specialized in tourism to finally focus on the application of a new investment charter offering attractive incentives for investors.
