Publication “Pioneers and heroines of Moroccan history”: When Gilbert Sinoué pays tribute to Moroccan women

The publishing house “La Croisée des Chemins” announced the publication of the work “Pioneers and heroines of the history of Morocco” by the historian and writer Gilbert Sinoué. Here are the outlines! The writer and historian Gilbert Sinoué has just published a new book entitled “Pioneers and heroines of Moroccan history”. Published by “La Croisée des chemins”, this 240-page work pays tribute to several Moroccan women who shaped parts of the Kingdom’s history, each in their chosen field. “For a long time, Muslim women were ignored by historians even though, paradoxically, it happened more than once that they played a determining role in their country to the point of influencing its destiny. Moroccan women do not escape this fate. Their names are Sayyeda al-Horra, Kharboucha, Aurora, Khnata bint Bakkar or even Zaynab al-Nafzawiyya,” we can read in the preface to this essay. And to continue: “All of them experienced a prodigious destiny, all contributed, each in their own field, to shaping parts of the History of Morocco. At a time when, in other countries, the role of women was almost non-existent, they occupied a preponderant place in society, whether in the arts or in politics. The author emphasizes that his main interest through these pages is to pay homage to them.
