Tourism: Morocco is banking on its regional diversity at the Paris Motor Show
The Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT) highlights the regions of Fez-Meknes and Dakhla-Oued Eddahab as guests of honor at the Paris International Tourism Fair, an initiative to highlight the richness and diversity of Morocco’s tourism offering. The choice made by the Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT) on the regions of Fez-Meknes and Dakhla-Oued Eddahab as guests of honor of the Moroccan space at the Paris International Tourism Fair further recognizes the tourism brand “Morocco”, rich in its regional specificities and its range of offers, facilitating its positioning on the global market, in accordance with the strategic objectives set by Morocco for the creation of a diversified offer. This approach corresponds, according to tourism sector experts consulted by Hespress, to a “line of conduct aimed at ensuring equal promotion between the different regions, without favoring a traditional destination as the country’s first tourist destination”. These experts also note that “achieving the objectives of the strategic roadmap for tourism requires investing in all the tourism heritage available on the national territory”. Wise choices “The diversification of the national offer is a factor of impetus and acceleration to achieve the objectives that we have set for ourselves, namely 17.5 million tourists by 2026 and 26 million by 2030,” noted the president of the National Confederation of Tourism (CNT), Hamid Bentaher, stressing that “Moroccan participation is characterized each time by the presence of a region as guest of honor, as this was the case for the Daraa-Tafilalt region during a previous edition, in order to promote all of Morocco’s offerings to both French tourists and two other nationalities.” “The work that has been done with regard to air transport takes into account all regions, which requires diversifying promotion and highlighting everything that each Moroccan region has to offer,” Mr. Benteher said in a statement to Hespress, emphasizing “the importance of strengthening partnerships to accelerate the pace of development and qualify the Moroccan offer.” “Putting two destinations in the spotlight during an event bringing together different players in international tourism is a way of discovering these destinations and making known the diversity of the Moroccan tourist offer,” affirmed the president of the CNT, adding that “the choice of France to initiate this approach is necessary because it is the first market for Morocco in terms of foreign tourism, it is therefore natural to promote other regions beyond the traditional regions in order to make them more visible, in order to market them and show that they are also promising destinations.” The tourist actor, Saleh Wahli, believes for his part that the choice of the two destinations is a tribute to the richness of the national tourist scene, “because Morocco is not only Marrakech, this destination having all the marketing that can be done to it and has already become a global and internationally recognized destination”, adding that “giving other destinations the opportunity to benefit from tourist arrivals through promotion will help to increase the number of visitors”. “The democratization of tourism and the consecration of equal opportunities between regions provide solutions to development at all levels, whether tourist, economic, social, cultural and environmental; the promotion of a destination can only be done after its rehabilitation and t the upgrading of all its natural and anthropic assets to support the dynamism of the national tourism offer », underlined Mr. Wahli, who is also president of the Regional Association of Tourist Guides of Marrakech-Asfi. And continued that « the rehabilitation of other destinations amounts to relaunching them and creating additional employment opportunities, especially since each region has its own characteristics and specificities in terms of tourist demand », stressing that « Morocco’s assets allow it to be able to respond to the different questions that the tourist asks during his expedition, therefore all the regions of Morocco must be highlighted”.
