In Morocco, the HACA gives the “green light” to the creation of 4 public sports TV channels

In Morocco, the High Authority for Audiovisual Communication (HACA), during its meeting earlier this week, approved a project aimed at completing the specifications of the National Radio and Television Company (SNRT) relating to the creation of four thematic public television channels dedicated to sport. This project, submitted by the Prime Minister to the Supreme Authority for approval in accordance with the requirements of Article 49 of Law No. 77.03 relating to audiovisual communication, « provides for the launch of new channels ‘Arriyadia 1’, ‘Arriyadia 2’, ‘Arriyadiya 3’ and ‘Arriyadia 4’ which will broadcast their programs throughout the day by satellite and by any other technical means ».

The HACA considers that these new channels television which will be added to the current sports channel (Arriyadia), would allow the public audiovisual service “to improve its work quantitatively and qualitatively”, in the field of the development and influence of national sport at the national, regional and international levels, underlines Hespress, citing an official press release. Furthermore, the HACA renewed its call to “redouble efforts to ensure broader and more in-depth media treatment of the issue of women’s sport and ensure fair media representation of the experience of women in this area”. She also emphasized “the capacity of sport” for unification and education, it intrinsically strengthens the culture of parity and equality between men and women within Moroccan society.
