The French President exchanges in Rabat with young Moroccan talents in video games and E-sport

The French President, Emmanuel Macron, had discussions on Tuesday at the International University of Rabat (UIR) with young Moroccan talents who have shone in the fields of video games and E-sport. These discussions, held at the initiative of the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, were an opportunity for Mr. Macron to follow explanations provided by representatives of startups specializing in video games. This meeting, which took place in the presence of the Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, the French Minister of Culture, Rachida Dati, and members of the delegation accompanying the French Head of State, offered the opportunity to discover professions as diverse as video game programming, related mechanics and the design of game mechanics, as well as the user experience. The French President, who interacted positively with the experience of young Moroccan talents, ambitious to go further in this area, wanted to thank the initiators of this event, while emphasizing that the objective is to be able to highlight Moroccan skills. Mr. Macron noted, on this occasion, that this exchange made it possible to discover the field of video games and e-sport in Morocco, stressing that this constitutes a continuum to the cultural, creative and sporting industries and all event professions. And remember that France has launched into the development of e-sport in recent years by relying on an ecosystem encompassing video games and programming, a crossroads of technology, innovation and artistic spirit. “I find the same vitality here as in France with young people wanting to discover and go beyond the established paths,” he said. The new events generated by this field stand out for “their hybridization at all levels of sport, video games, creativity, coding, events, among others,” he said, noting that young talents in this field manage to form communities that together create universes, events and positive emotions. Mr. Macron took this opportunity to express his encouragement to young people embracing these new promising professions which are, according to him, very demanding. There is a future and enormous potential in these professions, Mr. Macron insisted, noting that we will work “alongside you so that Morocco can host global events in this area”.
