Cairo: Morocco elected member of the new Executive Bureau of the Council of Arab Ministers of Electricity

e Morocco was elected, Monday December 2 in Cairo, member of the new Executive Office of the Council of Arab Ministers of Electricity for the period 2024-2026. This election took place on the sidelines of the 15th meeting of the Council, held in the new administrative capital. The Moroccan delegation was chaired by the Moroccan ambassador to Cairo and its permanent representative to the Arab League, Mohamed Aït Ouali, and included representatives of the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE) and the Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development. This meeting was also marked by the launch of the common Arab electricity market, a historic event which reflects the depth of Arab cooperation in this area. The Common Arab Electricity Market, whose agreement was signed by Morocco, the State of the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Palestine, Syria, Egypt, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the State of Qatar, Libya, Sudan and Yemen, represents a strategic step towards achieving Arab integration in the field of electricity. The launch of the Arab electricity market reflects the common Arab vision of promoting cooperation in the field of energy and opens a new phase to benefit from common electricity production and interconnection capacities, serving the interests of the Arab peoples.
