
Riyadh hosts the 8th general congress of the Arab Electricity Union with the participation of Morocco
The 8th general congress of the Arab Electricity Union (UAE) will be held from February 11 to 13 in Riyadh, under the theme « towards sustainable electric energy in the Arab world », with the participation of 19 Arab countries, including Morocco. This UAE conference, of which Morocco holds the presidency for the current term in the person of the Director General of the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE), and President of the UAE, Tarik Hamane, aims to exchange experiences and expertise, as well as examine the challenges facing the electricity industry in Arab countries. This conclave will examine nearly 90 scientific documents relating to innovation and new technologies in the fields of electricity and smart grids, in addition to the organization of six discussion sessions with the participation of heads of regulatory bodies, legislators and heads of electricity service companies, as well as experts in the fields of energy, electricity, management and cybersecurity. This event will also be an opportunity to address several themes, including strategies for integrating renewable energies into Arab electricity systems, efforts made in the region to combat climate change and its impact on electricity networks, as well as policies and legislation governing electricity interconnection between Arab States, innovation, artificial intelligence and the management of big data in the electricity sector. Initiated by the UAE, in collaboration with the Saudi Electricity Company, under the aegis of the Ministry of Energy, this congress will see the presence of around 1,000 experts in the production, transport, distribution and manufacturing of electrical energy, as well as nearly 150 heads of companies, establishments and bodies providing electrical services, in addition to innovators in new technologies, and manufacturers of electrical equipment from around the world. Its objective is to strengthen the means of cooperation between authorities, organizations and service providers, able to explore new opportunities for strategic partnership, and to develop electrical services in the Arab world.
