Morocco and the United Kingdom decide to begin a new era of global and authentic strategic partnership
The Kingdom of Morocco and the United Kingdom have announced the opening of a new era of strategic cooperation, based on solid and authentic foundations. This declaration was made official through a joint press release, signed on Sunday in Rabat, following the meeting between the Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, and the British Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, David Lammy. Entitled “The Kingdom of Morocco and the United Kingdom conclude a strengthened strategic partnership”, the document highlights the common desire of the two countries to strengthen their bilateral relations, building on a rich shared history and considerable achievements. This partnership, looking to the future, will extend to various key areas such as security, defense, trade, investments, water management, climate, energy transition, health, education, scientific research, innovation, human rights as well as cultural and sporting exchanges. The two nations also pledged to work closely together to address regional and global challenges, while jointly upholding the principles of peace, security, tolerance and respect for human rights. The press release underlines that the privileged links between the two Kingdoms are based on common values and converging interests. He also recalls that diplomatic relations between Morocco and the United Kingdom are among the oldest in the world, dating back more than eight centuries. Since the first documented contact at the beginning of the 13th century, relations between the Moroccan and British monarchies have always been marked by exemplary continuity and solidity, thus constituting the basis of a unique and lasting alliance.
