Maritime transport: ONE opens a new line to Casablanca from October…
The Japanese shipowner Ocean Network Express (ONE) will inaugurate, from October 16, 2025, a new maritime service called Spain–Portugal–Morocco (SPM). This fortnightly service will successively connect Valencia, Lisbon and Casablanca, before returning to the Spanish port. Designed as a strategic lever for trade, this line offers Moroccan exporters, particularly in the agri-food and industrial sectors, enhanced connectivity with the Iberian Peninsula and expanded access to international networks via the Valencia hub. This initiative is part of a broader restructuring of services in the Mediterranean, Asia and the Middle East, carried out jointly by ONE, Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM) and Yang Ming Marine Transport. It confirms the growing role of Casablanca in global maritime flows. At the same time, the logistics group DP World is preparing, for November 2025, the launch of the Atlas maritime service, directly linking Agadir and Casablanca to the ports of London and Antwerp. Mainly dedicated to agricultural exports, this new refrigerated line will reduce delivery times to Northern Europe by two days, while reducing the carbon footprint by almost 70% compared to road transport.
