In a decisive security operation which shook the city of Tetouan this morning, the police, in close coordination with the services of the General Directorate of National Territorial Surveillance, managed to foil a terrorist project about to be executed, after the arrest of a 26-year-old young man suspected of allegiance to the organization “Daesh”.
The operation, carried out with a high level of professionalism, revealed worrying elements: a large knife was seized from the suspect’s possession, which he was preparing to use to carry out a serious attack aimed at disrupting public order.
The first investigations also showed that the suspect was disseminating content extremists on digital platforms, including in particular sequences linked to the terrorist organization. During a careful search of his home, security teams discovered a flag bearing the group’s symbols, thus reinforcing the thesis of the preparation of an imminent terrorist act.
The suspect was transferred to the headquarters of the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations, where he is subject to in-depth interrogation under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office in matters of terrorism, in order to reveal all the details of the project and to identify possible internal or external connections.
This large-scale operation once again confirms the persistence of the terrorist threat and highlights the vigilance of the security services who are working to neutralize it before it turns into a real tragedy.
