Somalia Supports the Territorial Integrity of Morocco and Welcomes Security Council Resolution 2797

The Federal Republic of Somalia reiterated, this Friday in Rabat, its firm support for the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Morocco and its territorial integrity throughout its territory, this constant position was expressed by the Somali Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation International, Abdisalam Omer Ali, during bilateral talks with his Moroccan counterpart, Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad

In a joint statement published at the end of these discussions, Mr. Ali noted with « great satisfaction » the adoption of the Resolution 2797 of the United Nations Security Council,

The Somali Minister welcomed this resolution which enshrines the Moroccan proposal for autonomy, within the framework of the sovereignty of the Kingdom, as the sole basis for a just and lasting settlement leading to a definitive solution to this artificial regional dispute

Mr. Ali also expressed full support of the Republic of Somalia to the serious and realistic efforts made by Morocco to put an end to this conflict, as well as its support for the actions of the Secretary General of the United Nations and his Personal Envoy for the Sahara. For his part, Mr. Bourita reiterated Morocco’s gratitude to the Federal Republic of Somalia for its vote in favor of Resolution 2797, adopted by the Security Council on October 31, 2025

Mr. Bourita also reaffirmed to his Somali counterpart Morocco’s attachment and commitment to respecting the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of the Somalia throughout its territory.
