According to the director of the Nazar Gallery, Amina Fraoui, interviewed by the Agence Maghreb Arabe Presse, the idea of organizing an exhibition entitled “Fifty” was born to celebrate both the fiftieth anniversary of the Green March and the fiftieth anniversary of the founding of the gallery. The event brings together fifty artists who created works in a unique format of 50 x 50 cm, a central element of the artistic approach. Some artists chose to address themes directly linked to the exhibition and the Green March, while others preferred a broader freedom of expression, a choice widely appreciated by the organizers who praised the diversity and richness of the works presented. This imposed format constituted a real challenge for artists accustomed to working without format constraints, but this experience also allowed new creative approaches while ensuring visual coherence throughout the exhibition. a strong symbolic dimension. He added that the works draw their inspiration from the history of the gallery and that of the Green March, specifying that the meeting between the public and the artists during the opening constituted a very important moment for cultural life
The visual artist Nawal Skqat explained that her contribution takes the form of a composite work which brings together several artistic techniques such as painting, sculpture and symbols, in an experience immersive, She indicated that her work is inspired by the worlds of the desert, evoking the qualities and specificities of the southern provinces, and expresses the passage of time, the development and the symbolic elevation accompanying the Green March over the last fifty years. According to the organizers, this exhibition celebrates the fiftieth anniversary of the Green March, a key moment in Moroccan collective memory, as well as the fiftieth anniversary of the foundation of the Nazar Gallery, created by Leila Fraoui, the first woman to have inaugurated an art gallery in the Arab world, which supported Moroccan artistic creation for half a century
