
Dakhla: Tourism is popular with investors
It takes up 37% of the overall investment amount
The Dakhla Regional Investment Center examined 412 investment project files during 2017, through the various regional commissions. 394 projects received the favorable opinion of the commissions. The total amount of investments planned for these approved files, corresponding to 6.022 billion dirhams, should allow the creation of 13,142 new job positions. Which represents an increase of 275% compared to 2016. According to a report from the CRI of Dakhla, these projects concern six sectors, namely tourism with a rate of 37% of the overall investment amount, the fishing industry with 21%, various services with 17%, construction with 14%, livestock and agriculture with 10% and finally the agri-food industry with a percentage of 1%. Thus, the sectoral analysis of the amount of investment during the year 2017 shows the predominance of the tourism sector with an amount which exceeds 2.193 billion DH, followed by the fishing industry sector and various services with an amount respectively of 1.259 and 1.04 billion DH, then the construction sector with an amount of 835.22 million DH, then the livestock sector with an amount of 624.37 million DH, and finally the agri-food sector with an amount of 56.5 million DH.
The fishing industry sector comes first in terms of job creation with a rate of 27%, followed by the tourism sector with 26% and the miscellaneous services sector with 24%. The same source underlines that 590 negative certificates were issued in 2017. The legal form most requested by applicants for negative certificates remains the SARL which represents 79% of the total intentions to create commercial companies, followed by the SNC with 14% and finally the natural person with 6%.
The sectoral distribution of intentions to create commercial companies shows the predominance of the services sector with a rate of 37%, followed by that of commerce with 20%. The other sectors record rates respectively of 18% for agriculture and fishing, 13% for the construction and public works sector, 11% for tourism and finally 1% for the industrial sector.
The business creation assistance window recorded the creation of 984 businesses in 2017. The distribution of commercial enterprises by legal nature highlights the predominance of the SARL (58%), followed by the PP (37%) and finally the SNC (5%). The sectoral distribution of commercial enterprises illustrates the predominance of the commerce sector (49%), followed by that of services (22%). The tourism, construction, agriculture and fishing and agri-food sectors recorded rates of 11, 8.7 and 2% respectively.
