Marrakech: arrest of two individuals and seizure of psychotropic tablets during a joint security operation

as part of the ongoing efforts deployed by the security services to fight against drug and psychotropic substance trafficking networks, the anti-narcotics brigade under the Marrakech Police Prefecture succeeded, on the morning of Monday January 5, 2026, in carrying out a thorough security operation leading to the arrest of two individuals suspected of being involved in the illicit trafficking of hallucinogenic tablets.

This qualitative operation is the result of close coordination with elements of the General Directorate of National Territorial Surveillance, which made it possible to monitor the movements of the suspects before their arrest while they were riding a motorcycle in one of the city’s neighborhoods.

After their submission to legal control and search procedures, the first investigations led to their workplace, which was the subject of a careful search by the competent services.

The search led to the seizure of a significant quantity of psychotropic substances, consisting of 500 sedative medical tablets of the type “Rivotril”, known for its misuse in criminal circles, as well as 195 hallucinogenic tablets of the “Ecstasy” type, intended for marketing.

In view of these elements, the two suspects were placed in police custody at the disposal of the judicial investigation carried out under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, with a view to deepening the investigations, to elucidate all the circumstances of this case, to identify the sources of supply of these prohibited substances and to determine the possible ramifications of this criminal activity, both internally and externally. of the city.

This operation is part of the security strategy aimed at drying up the sources of drug trafficking and guaranteeing public safety as well as the protection of citizens, in particular young people, against the dangers of psychotropic substances and their serious repercussions on the individual and society.
