Meknes: 13% increase in tourist nights during the first half of 2017

Tourist nights in classified accommodation establishments in the city of Meknes increased by 13% at the end of June 2017 compared to the same period of the previous year.
According to the National Tourism Observatory, some 107,248 overnight stays were recorded during the first six months of the current year, compared to 95,331 overnight stays during the same period of 2016.
The average length of stay at the end of last June was 1.5 days, compared to 1.6 days during the same period of 2016, specifies the same source.
Tourist establishments classified 2,3 and 4 stars have accumulated, during the first six months of the current year, almost all of the nights recorded in the city of Meknes, with an overall occupancy rate of 24% compared to 23% during the same period of the year 2016. For In the month of June 2017 alone, there were 6,053 overnight stays, compared to 5,854 overnight stays during the same period of 2016, an increase of 3%. According to the regional tourism delegation in Meknes, a total of 18 tourist units with a total investment of 750 million DH, currently being studied, will be carried out in the prefecture of Meknes.
These tourist projects with a total bed capacity of some 1,804 beds will generate more than 500 direct and indirect jobs, notes the same source.
