New entry procedure into Morocco for three African countries
Morocco has established, from November 1, a new procedure for nationals of three African countries wishing to travel to Morocco. These are Congo Brazzaville, Guinea-Conakry and Mali. Still exempt from visas, travelers from these countries must now complete an “electronic travel authorization” (AVEM) application, at least 96 hours before the planned date of their trip.
To do this, a form must be downloaded from the site: www.acces-maroc.ma, set up by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. « The electronic travel authorization is required for nationals of countries not subject to entry visa formalities to Morocco, with the exception of nationals with a valid residence permit in Morocco, nationals in transit through Morocco (but who must not leave the airport or port) and nationals married to a Moroccan who must be provided with the documents upon their arrival in Morocco supporting documents« , we explain on the site.
According to diplomatic sources, this is for the moment an “experimental measure”. Concerned travelers must indicate on the form the specific purpose of their trip (business, studies, tourism, etc.). The aim being to “streamline passage at the border”, the same sources told us.
Moreover, in a letter dated October 30, a copy of which was published on social networks, the regional representative of Royal Air Maroc for Gabon, Aziz Cherradi, explains that “the nationals concerned must present their AVEM at the airport at the time of their departure and arrival in Morocco”.
