Agadir: New air links with Lithuania and Hungary
The destination strengthens its presence in Central and Eastern Europe
The low-cost airline Wizz Air plans to launch new air connections on November 2 between the city of Agadir and the Lithuanian capital Vilnius, and the Hungarian capital Budapest. The opening of these new lines will strengthen the presence of the Agadir destination on the Hungarian and Lithuanian market as well as in Central and Eastern Europe, considered among the most important emerging markets on the Old Continent. These new connections will be added to those already provided by the same company since June 30 between the city of Agadir and several Polish cities in direct flights by the Airbus A321 and A320.
Wizz Air is a low-cost airline, originating from Hungary, which serves 140 destinations from 22 bases in Central and Eastern Europe, as well as a base in Belgium and a base in Great Britain. Its head office is located in Budapest. Other charters already operate in Agadir 3 times a week, every Friday from Warsaw, Katowice and Poznan. The launch of these lines follows the efforts of the Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT), which led an all-out campaign aimed at strengthening cooperation with certain airlines and tour operators based in these countries. These include Nickermann, Itaka, Rainbow, EXIM and TUI. This campaign aims to raise awareness of the Morocco destination and the strengths of the country’s tourist offering, particularly the city of Agadir.
The latter is currently undergoing a vast aerial opening operation. In this sense, Air Arabia Maroc will connect from Agadir, and with two weekly flights, the international airports of Munich, Cologne, Copenhagen, Dublin, Manchester, Stockholm and Toulouse. Opened in collaboration with the ONMT, the new air base will allow Air Arabia Maroc to meet the needs of its passengers and contribute to developing the tourism sector in Morocco, by diversifying its services to attract more tourists from Europe. While the airline Air France inaugurated a direct line between Agadir and Paris Charles-de-Gaules airport on July 18. This direct line is operated three times a week (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday), with the aim of boosting arrivals particularly from the French market, traditionally an important clientele for Agadir.
