The Paris Book Festival unveils the program Morocco, guest of honor

The Paris Book Festival, which will be held from April 11 to 13, will this year put Morocco in the spotlight. The Kingdom will have a 330 square meter pavilion there, installed under the dome of the Grand Palais, in the heart of the French capital. This space will highlight the richness and dynamism of Moroccan literature through a selection of authors and publishing houses representative of its cultural diversity. Designed as an invitation to exploration and discovery, the Moroccan pavilion will be inspired by the sea, a symbol of the country’s maritime heritage and its commitment to a sustainable and innovative future. Visitors will be able to meet renowned Moroccan writers, attend round tables on the links between literature, history and society, as well as discussions around the Francophonie and the transmission of oral traditions in contemporary writing. The festival organizers highlight the dynamics of the Moroccan publishing landscape, driven by publishing houses committed to promoting Moroccan literature. Publishing works in Arabic, Amazigh, French and English, these publishers help to promote Moroccan voices internationally. Around forty of them will be present in an immersive space celebrating the diversity and richness of Moroccan authors. The pavilion will highlight emblematic figures as well as new feathers, reflecting a plural identity and a history marked by varied cultural influences. Tributes will also be paid to authors who have left their mark on Moroccan literature and thought, such as Edmond Amran El Maleh and Driss Chraïbi. The Moroccan pavilion will be divided into five thematic spaces: « The Maritime History Space » will offer an immersion in Morocco’s maritime past, highlighting its Atlantic and Mediterranean heritage through documents, old maps and sailors’ stories. “L’Espace Hiwar” will be dedicated to meetings and exchanges between authors, publishers and visitors. “The Signing Space” will allow the public to meet the writers and obtain signatures. “The Youth Space”, designed for young readers, will offer stories, interactive workshops and meetings with children’s authors to encourage a taste for reading. Finally, “The Publishers and Bookstore Area” will offer visitors the opportunity to discover a wide selection of works and to interact with book professionals. This festival constitutes an exceptional showcase for Moroccan literature and a unique opportunity to celebrate its dynamism and diversity on the international scene.
